Comparison with Regular Glass

Acrylic offers a transparent, pure, and sparkling look similar to regular glass, but with the following advantages over regular glass:

  1. Lighter than regular glass by 50%, making it more convenient for household use.
  2. Higher impact resistance by 200 times compared to regular glass. While regular glass shatters when dropped or impacted, acrylic only cracks if it exceeds its impact limit, preventing danger in case it falls. It reduces wastage and saves costs, making it especially suitable for households with children and elderly people.
  1. Higher Transparency than regular glass with a light transmittance of 96% compared to regular glass at 80%. The light refraction rate is 4% lower than regular glass. This results in a higher aesthetic value without distorting the appearance of fruits, flowers, and other objects.

Comparison with Plastic

Acrylic is as light as plastic, and not as easily broken as plastic, but has the following advantages over plastic:

  1. While plastic may yellow, become cloudy, and develop surface scratches after a short period of use, giving it a “used,” “worn,” or “cheap” appearance, acrylic does not yellow, cloud, or scratch, and maintains its clarity and luxury over time, just like regular glass.
  2. Does not contain harmful Bisphenol-A (BPA), which causes cancer in some plastics, making it safe for consumers.

APPLICATIONS OF ACRYLIC:

Due to the combination of the advantages of both regular glass and plastic, and its safety for consumers, acrylic is widely used internationally in various fields such as:

  • Medical Applications: Due to its safety for health and high light transmittance, it is used to make artificial corneas and medical instruments.
  • Aviation Industry: Due to its higher strength than glass, it is not prone to breaking and causing danger, so it is used in aircraft windows. Some car windows and yacht windshields also use acrylic.
  • Construction Materials: Since it does not yellow or age like plastic, and is safer than glass with excellent breakage resistance, it is widely used for windows, high-rise building glass, and soundproof panels.
  • Household Products: Due to its high aesthetic value, elegance, and safety, it is widely used in household items such as fruit plates, vegetable and fruit containers, candy boxes, freezer food containers, cutting boards, etc.
